FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

HALIFAX, NS, FEBRUARY 11, 2025 – A new technology-based treatment for chronic pain called Emsculpt Neo Functional Wellness is now available at Body Works Med Spa & Wellness, a clinic in downtown Halifax. This treatment is Health Canada-approved for relieving pain. Some of the conditions it can treat include arthritis, carpel tunnel, tennis elbow, tight or pulled muscles, frozen shoulder, tendonitis, and joint pain and stiffness.

After opening in late 2021, Body Works Med Spa & Wellness has become the go-to provider for Emsculpt Neo Body Sculpting, which builds an average of 25% more muscle mass and reduces body fat by an average of 30% in the treated area.

Functional WellnessAfter much research and development, the manufacturer of Emsculpt Neo, BTL Aesthetics, has launched a Functional Wellness protocol for the device and selected Body Works Med Spa & Wellness to introduce it to the Halifax marketplace.

Emsculpt Neo Functional Wellness uses radiofrequency heat and high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) energy to gently stimulate muscle and re-train neural pathways. HIFEM energy is similar to electrical muscle stimulation (EMS), but HIFEM energy has a bigger field and penetrates deeper. Like the body sculpting procedure, it’s a 30-minute walk-in-walk-out treatment with no downtime.

“It’s an exciting tool that can help a lot of people,” says Catherine Crosbie, owner-operator of Body Works Med Spa & Wellness. “NFL player Saquon Barkley is the newest brand ambassador for Emsculpt Neo,” she adds. “His treatments helped him recover from a recent injury and get back in the game.”

Crosbie says she’s done two treatments so far on her hips. “Between giving birth twice in the last 5 years and the age-related deterioration in my hips, I recently developed constant stiffness and discomfort. After completing my first two Emsculpt Neo Functional Wellness treatments, that stiffness and discomfort is almost gone.”

In the absence of contraindications, other examples of people that Emsculpt Neo Functional Wellness can treat include:

  • A runner who experiences knee or hip pain
  • Someone with carpel tunnel who is considering surgery
  • Someone who still has pain after shoulder surgery and a year of physiotherapy
  • A person experiencing stiffness and discomfort after their cast comes off
