It’s always exciting to start a new year. Folks in the beauty industry have been gushing about trends to expect moving into 2025, and the sub-industry of aesthetics & wellness is no different. Here at Body Works Med Spa & Wellness, we’ve noticed a few trends developing and we wanted to tell you about how we think the next year or more will play out. Below, learn about aesthetics & wellness trends in 2025.

1. Prioritizing sleep and nutrition while minimizing stress

better sleep is an aesthetics & wellness trend in 2025It may seem obvious to some, but prioritizing sleep and nutrition while minimizing stress is not something that people have been focused on in previous years. We think that 2025 is the year when folks will start taking this more seriously and translating their good intentions into actions. After all, nothing is more impactful on your overall health, wellness, and aesthetic than consistently getting enough sleep and good nutrition, and keeping stress to a minimum. For example, we think more people will be cutting back on things that keep them from getting a good night’s sleep and giving them tired, puffy eyes more often than not. And did you know that generally speaking, the more stress you have in your life, the slower your body will heal from wounds? Good sleep, balanced nutrition, and minimal stress will become an aesthetics and wellness trend in 2025 as these things become more present in the public consciousness and doctors discuss their importance more often.

2. Weight loss injections

Last year saw many celebrities drop weight with the help of injectable weight loss drugs like Ozempic and Semaglutide. The general public also started taking advantage of these tools. For 2025, it’s highly unlikely that this trend will go away. In fact, we’ll probably see more people – as in friends and family members – trying these injectable drugs to help them control their weight.

It goes without saying that these drugs must be carefully managed. One reason for this is that they don’t just cause rapid weight loss – they also cause rapid muscle loss. One expert says that if you’re losing more than 1 lb per week, you’re likely losing lean muscle mass along with fat. This is the kind of outcome you want to avoid. It’s bad for your health to lose lean muscle mass! In fact, building muscle is another aesthetic & wellness trend that we expect to see gain momentum in 2025.

3. Building muscle!

Emsculpt Neo as an alternative to Ozempic and SemaglutideMost of us understand what a sedentary lifestyle can do to a person. Over time, you lose muscle, mobility, tend to develop body pain, and tend to gain weight. Even worse, a sedentary lifestyle significantly increases the risk of obesity, heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, certain cancers, stroke, osteoporosis, as well as depression and anxiety.

Now, research is showing that being active is not enough for good health. It’s great if you’re getting your 10,000 steps in daily, but the threshold for good health is actually higher. You have to put in consistent effort to build muscle if you want good health for the long term! In fact, deliberate muscle-building activity staves off metabolic health issues, cancer, osteoporosis, dementia, and frailty.

Dr. Garbrielle Lyon, author of the book Forever Strong, says that skeletal muscle is the cornerstone of health and wellness. She also calls skeletal muscle “the organ of longevity”. As a bonus, strong skeletal muscle will also help you maintain good skin and look good in a swimsuit.

How to build muscle…

So how do you build stronger skeletal muscle? Resistance training is key. Start by doing things like pushing a stroller on an incline, wearing a weighted vest during walks, or lifting lighter weights. Eventually, a personal trainer can introduce you to weight equipment at the gym.

Emsculpt Neo is another great way to get started. This device is the leading non-invasive body contouring technology in the world. Not only does it reduce fat by an average of 30% in the treated area, but it also builds an average of 25% more muscle in the treated area. Many people have enjoyed using Emsculpt Neo to help them kick-start a healthier, fitter lifestyle because it gives them extra support to get going. It also helps them see and feel results earlier than they normally would, so they’re more likely to stay committed to their healthier lifestyle. Body Works Med Spa & Wellness is the leading provider of Emsculpt Neo in Atlantic Canada and the only provider that offers an Emsculpt Neo Results Promise.

Emsella is another non-invasive technology clinically proven to build muscle in the pelvic floor. Like with Emsculpt Neo, MRIs from people who have done a series of Emsella treatments show thicker and stronger pelvic floor muscles, which enhances core strength. Body Works Med Spa & Wellness is the most experienced Emsella provider in Nova Scotia. With regards to aesthetics & wellness trends in 2025, we’re here for building muscle!

4. Eating more protein

Men are fairly well conditioned to eat protein to support fitness goals. On the other hand, women are not very well conditioned to eat a high protein diet. Now, advice for women to eat more protein is flooding the internet because not only does it help with weight loss goals, but it helps people maintain and build muscle to improve overall quality of life for the long-term. Combining a higher protein diet with resistance training can even keep you out of a nursing home in your later years. These days, it seems like fewer people are afraid to pick up red meat for dinner. As part of a balanced, healthy diet that supports our protein goals, we can feel good about enjoying steak!

5. Natural results

As part of the aesthetics & wellness trends in 2025, people are less interested in looking like they’ve had work done, and more interested in solutions that deliver natural or natural-looking results. For example, people are getting smaller doses of neuromodulators so that they don’t look frozen, and they’re dissolving filler so that they don’t have “duck lips” or fake-looking cheekbones. Folks are also opting for technology-based solutions like Exilis Ultra, which cause our skin to produce more of its own collagen and elastin for a more youthful appearance. Exilis Ultra is a device that uses radiofrequency heat and ultrasound energy to soften lines, improve eye bags and dark circles, and plump up the skin. Unlike many other technology-based face treatments, the experience of doing treatments is soothing and enjoyable.

6. Women’s Health is one of the aesthetics & wellness trends in 2025

The baby boomer generation saw a lot more women becoming doctors and leaders in medicine. With these women having gone through childbirth, peri-menopause, and menopause, and having had the experience of both giving and receiving care, it seems like they’re participating in a new wave of advocacy for women’s health. This means women’s health is getting more attention and better care. Bringing more attention and better treatment options to women’s health issues is an important development and one that we hope is here to stay.

Emsella as an aesthetics & wellness trend in 2025Speaking of women’s health, Emsella is a wonderful addition to the movement. It’s an innovative tool that uses high intensity-focused electromagnetic energy to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles. Strengthening alone is a benefit, but Emsella also improves symptoms of stress, urge, and mixed urinary incontinence. While the device is Health Canada approved for women and men, childbirth is a leading cause of urinary incontinence and Emsella’s popularity is growing among women nationwide. The best part may be that the treatment is quick and easy. There’s no invasive exam – you just sit fully clothed on the Emsella chair for 28 minutes at a time. Some people notice a difference in their incontinence symptoms within the few short weeks.

Clarity II device7. Raising the bar with technological innovation

One more trend that’s coming onboard is a wave of technological improvement in aesthetics and wellness. Take permanent hair removal, for example. Permanent hair removal has been around for quite some time and it’s a common service these days. However, the standard devices that do permanent hair removal have limitations. Many of them can only treat certain skin types. Even devices that can treat all skin types cannot treat all skin types well. Other limitations of standard permanent hair removal devices include notable treatment discomfort and inability to remove fine and extra fine hairs.

In 2024 and moving into 2025, we’re seeing technological improvements that improve the client experience remarkably. To continue with the example of permanent hair removal, Clarity II is a new laser hair removal device that improves upon existing devices in many ways. First, it’s a dual laser. That means the Clarity II machine actually contains two different lasers so that it can optimally treat every skin type. Second, it’s more powerful, so people are going longer without needing maintenance treatments. Third, treatments are significantly faster and more comfortable. And fourth, this device can remove the fine and extra fine hairs that other devices can’t. Body Works Med Spa & Wellness is thrilled to be among the first providers of Clarity II laser hair removal in Atlantic Canada.

Permanent hair removal is just one example of how technological improvements are raising the bar in aesthetics & wellness in 2025. Keep your eyes open for other technological innovations!
