In this article, we write about what Exomind TMS is, its benefits, why many people including medical professionals have never heard of TMS, and why that may change soon.

Exomind TMS
Here at Body Works Med Spa & Wellness, we’re thrilled about our newest non-invasive device, Exomind TMS. TMS stands for transcranial magnetic stimulation. This device delivers an optimized TMS treatment to improve a range of mental health conditions, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, ADHD, OCD, insomnia, loss of mental sharpness, and brain fog. Further, you don’t have to have a mental health “problem” to enjoy benefits from Exomind TMS; we also use it as a wellness tool to enhance cognitive function among high-performing athletes, top executives, and anyone else looking to show up as their best self.
Why We Love It
Some of the things we love about Exomind TMS are that it’s non-invasive, drug-free, comfortable, safe, and easy. At Body Works Med Spa & Wellness, it’s a rigorous mental health therapy. A psychiatrist meets with each Exomind TMS patient, following them through their treatment journey. We’re also proud to be improving access to mental health solutions; there are no wait times, referrals are encouraged but not required, and our treatment schedules are typically more convenient than traditional TMS.
“Why Haven’t I heard of TMS?”
TMS has been around since 1985. As a solution to treatment-resistant depression, Health Canada first approved TMS in 2002. The FDA first approved it in 2008. Although it’s well-known and loved by many mental health physicians and other experts, there are still a lot of medical professionals who haven’t heard of it. So, as we extol the virtues of TMS, many may be wondering, “If it’s so great, why haven’t I heard of TMS?” Here’s why…
Why You Haven’t Heard Of TMS
From the provider’s perspective, traditional TMS is a tricky service to deliver. The devices easily overheat and stop working, making it difficult to perform scheduled treatments. Many TMS devices are also difficult to operate, meaning that providers must invest a great deal of time into training technicians. Still, patients may get inconsistent treatments.
From the patient’s perspective, traditional TMS is usually used for depression only. Furthermore, gaining access to treatment can be quite time-consuming. Generally, a patient must have failed at least one antidepressant before becoming a candidate for traditional TMS. Then they need a referral from a psychiatrist to become eligible for the therapy (if you’ve ever tried to see a psychiatrist in Nova Scotia, you’ll know that it takes too long). Finally, when a patient is approved for therapy, the treatment schedule is usually something like once a day for 30 days. There aren’t many people who can fit that into their work and life. Now, when someone asks, “if it’s so great, why haven’t I heard of TMS?”, you’ll know the answer.
Exomind TMS Is A Game-Changer
Exomind TMS fixes practically all of the problems outlined above. The device works great and is simple to operate. As previously mentioned, it treats a range of mental health and wellness conditions – not just depression. And at Body Works Med Spa & Wellness, patients can start Exomind TMS therapy without delay. With our treatment schedules, people find it easy enough to fit their treatments into their lives. We like to say that Exomind TMS is powerful enough to change the brain, but safe and convenient enough to fit into real life.
Rising Rates Of Mental Illness
The reason we’re so excited about Exomind TMS is because we have the power to help a lot of people. Body Works Med Spa & Wellness is the first and only Exomind TMS provider in Halifax and Atlantic Canada.
Unfortunately, rates of mental illness have been steadily climbing. Mental wellness is now the #1 health concern in North America, surpassing obesity and cancer. Mental health issues are common.
The silver lining is that mental health is now at the forefront of community consciousness. Knowing how special Exomind TMS therapy is, it has become our mission to make optimized TMS part of mainstream medicine. We hope that soon enough, no one will be asking, “why haven’t I heard of TMS?”.
