Cellulite has grades. Grade 0 means there is no dimpling when you apply pressure to the skin. With grade 1, there is dimpling when you apply pressure or when your muscles contract. Grade 2 means there is dimpling when standing, but not while lying down, and grade 3 means there’s dimpling when both standing and lying down.

While cellulite can show up in both women and men, it’s more common in women. This is because connective tissue in women is arranged vertically, which means that fat cells can accumulate in between the connective tissue and bulge out more easily. In men, connective tissue has a crisscross structure, which makes the skin more resistant to dimpling.

The 5 Main Causes Of Cellulite

There are 5 causes of cellulite:

1. Enlarged fat chambers in the hypodermis apply outward pressure in between connective tissues
2. Rigid collagen fibers pull inward against outward pressure
3. Loss of skin elasticity decreases resistance to pressure
4. Poor blood flow
5. Accumulation of metabolic waste

EmTone is the first and only device that simultaneously delivers both mechanical and thermal energy to treat all major contributing factors to cellulite. Targeted Pressure Energy (TPE) with radiofrequency heat (RF) create synergy, which leads to best-in-class results. Here’s how it works:

1) RF decongests fat cells in the treatment area and triggers new collagen and elastin production.

2) RF and TPE activate better blood circulation in the area, repair damaged collagen and elastin fibers, restructure tissues and proteins in the treatment area, and generate new fibers. This process increases skin elasticity and the skin’s resistance to pressure.

3)TPE along with manual manipulation of the EmTone applicator creates lymphatic drainage which removes metabolic waste.

The Free Consulation

Here at Body Works Med Spa & Wellness, the first step you’ll take is a free consultation. The purpose is to determine if you’re a good candidate for EmTone (or whatever services interest you). We block off an hour, but we don’t always need that much time. We’ll ask you questions, you’ll ask us questions, we’ll look at before/after comparisons so you know what to expect, and we’ll prepare a treatment plan with the required investment. By the end of the free consultation, you should have enough information to know what you’d like to do.

Your EmTone Treatments

We generally recommend a series of 4 EmTone treatments. Some people may benefit from more treatments. At each treatment visit, we record your weight and measurements and take photos of the treatment area so that we can evaluate results in the end. It’s important to remove any metal or electronics from the area of the body that we’re treating.

When you’re ready, you hop on the treatment bed and your technician will give treatment. We use ultrasound lotion on the treatment area and move the applicator in motions that create lymphatic drainage. You’ll feel strong mechanical vibrations and heat in the treatment area. One area usually takes about 20 minutes.

Your EmTone Results

Clients typically notice changes in their body during the weeks that they are doing their EmTone treatments. That being said, you’ll see your peak results 3 months after completing treatments. We invite EmTone clients back at the 3-month mark to evaluate their final results together.
