Here at Body Works Med Spa & Wellness, non-invasive body contouring is our speciality. Non-invasive body contouring is about using non-invasive technologies including Emsculpt Neo, EmTone, and Exilis Ultra to reshape areas of the body. We can do that by reducing fat, building muscle, tightening skin, and smoothing cellulite. Unlike surgical body contouring including liposuction, our treatments have zero downtime and fewer risks.

When you start exploring body contouring options, you’ll want to book a free consultation at Body Works. We see this as an opportunity to evaluate whether our services are a good fit for you. In other words, it’s an information-gathering process for both of us. We block off 1 hour for each free consultation, but we don’t always need that much time. We ask you questions, you ask us questions, and by the end, we decide what to do next.

Naturally, clients come to us because they want results. That’s the driving motivation. While they usually enjoy their visits, we never lose sight of the fact that results are the main goal. In order to deliver the best possible outcome, we need clients to be active partners in their body contouring journeys. That’s why one of the questions we ask during free consultations is, “Can you commit to being an active partner in this process?”

Being an active partner at Body Works means a few things. We need to know that you’re going to drink lots of water, manage your weight, maintain or introduce an exercise routine, and wear similar clothing to each treatment. That may seem intimidating, but for most people, it’s not really! Let me explain…

Hydrate To Be An Active Partner

Before you book your body contouring treatments at Body Works, we ask most people to drink about 2 litres of water per day leading up to, on the day of, and after your treatments. How much water you need to drink depends on your weight, but 2 litres is a good guideline for most people. Drinking lots of water accomplishes two things. First, being well hydrated during your treatments will help you tolerate treatments better. Since our devices use heat and contractions, having more water in your system will make you more comfortable. Second, staying well hydrated until you get your final results will improve your results. Not only does it help to flush out any damaged fat cells, it adds more elasticity to the skin and improves the appearance of cellulite dimples.

Manage Your Weight To Be An Active Partner

Emsculpt Neo Abdomen TreatmentManaging your weight can mean different things depending on your body contouring goal. Let’s define what it means to manage your weight when doing different types of body contouring at Body Works Med Spa & Wellness.

If you’re doing fat reduction, you’ll want to have your weight “under control” throughout your treatment journey. If your weight is going down, great – in most cases, that will support your results. What you don’t want is for your weight to go up because that will make your results harder to see. Our technologies can do amazing things, but there are a lot of factors that we cannot control and your weight is one of them. If you gain weight, of course you’re not going to be as happy with your results. We want you to be happy!

It may sound silly, but gaining even 1 pound can be detrimental. Think of 1 pound of butter, its density, and how much space it occupies. It’s a lot! If you maintain consistent habits for the duration of your treatment journey, we would actually expect the number on the scale to go down by 1-3 pounds by the time you visit for your 3-month follow up. That’s the effect that our fat reduction treatments will have on someone with consistent habits.

If you’re doing skin tightening, maintaining a stable weight is also important. If you lose weight during skin tightening treatments, it might seem like the treatments didn’t work. The reality is that while we were tightening your skin, your weight loss was creating more laxity. This is definitely something to consider before you move forward with skin tightening!

Exercise To Be An Active Partner

We like it when clients have an exercise routine because exercise is a healthy habit that promotes body awareness. It’s as simple as that! For those who have a regular exercise routine, we like to see them maintain that routine during the body contouring process. For those who do not have an exercise routine, we recommend introducing some light exercise that fits with their lifestyle. This might be going for a 30-minute walk twice a week.

Wear Similar Clothing To Be An Active Partner

This one is not quite as important, but it’s worth mentioning. It’s great when you show up to your treatments wearing similar clothing (ex. leggings every time) because it means there will be consistency in our before & after photos. For example, when doing Emsculpt Neo on the abdomen, we’ll ask you to either undo the buttons of your pants or shimmy the top of your pants down so that the full abdomen is exposed for photos. Different clothing pushes and pulls on the body differently, and we want the photos to be as consistent as possible. So wearing similar clothing is helpful!
