Here at Body Works Med Spa & Wellness, non-invasive body contouring is our speciality. Non-invasive body contouring is about using non-invasive technologies including Emsculpt Neo and Exilis Ultra to reshape areas of the body. We can do that by reducing fat, building muscle, tightening skin, and smoothing cellulite. Unlike surgical body contouring including liposuction, our treatments have zero downtime and fewer risks.
When you start exploring body contouring options, you’ll want to book a free consultation at Body Works. We see this as an opportunity to evaluate whether our services are a good fit for you. In other words, it’s an information-gathering process for both of us. We block off one hour for each free consultation, but we don’t always need that much time. We ask you questions, you ask us questions, and by the end, we decide what to do next.
Naturally, clients come to us because they want results. That’s the driving motivation. While they usually enjoy their visits, we never lose sight of the fact that results are the main goal. In order to deliver the best possible outcome, we need clients to be active partners in their body contouring journeys. That’s why one of the questions we ask during free consultations is, “Can you commit to being an active partner in this process?”
Being an active partner at Body Works means a few things. We need to know that you’re going to drink lots of water, manage your weight, maintain or introduce an exercise routine, and wear similar clothing to each treatment. That may seem intimidating, but for most people, it’s not really! Let me explain…
Hydrate To Be An Active Partner
Before you book your body contouring treatments at Body Works, we ask you to drink a minimum of 8 glasses of water per day leading up to, on the day of, and after your treatments. This accomplishes two things. First, being well hydrated during your treatments will help you tolerate treatments well. Since our devices use heat and contractions, having more water in your system will make you more comfortable. Staying well hydrated after your treatments, especially in the 3 months before you do your 3-month follow up with us, improves your results. Not only does it help to flush out those damaged fat cells, it adds more elasticity to the skin and improves the appearance of cellulite dimples.
Manage Your Weight To Be An Active Partner
From our perspective, weight management is mainly about maintaining your weight during the body contouring process. Our technologies can do amazing things, but if you gain let’s say 5 or more lbs while doing fat reduction treatments, of course you’re not going to be as happy with your results.
And by the way, fat and weight are two different, but related things. If you maintain your weight during body contouring, we would actually expect to see the number on the scale go down by 1-3 lbs by the time you visit for your 3-month follow up. If the number on the scale stays the same, it actually suggests that you’re gaining a little bit a weight.
If you’re doing fat reduction treatments as a kick-start to a healthier lifestyle, then of course losing weight during the body contouring process is perfectly fine. That may in fact align with your goals. Our fat reduction treatments will help you see more dramatic changes in your body faster and keep you motivated.
Maintaining your weight for skin tightening treatments is also important. If you lose weight during skin tightening treatments, it might seem like the treatments didn’t work. The reality is that while we were tightening the skin, the weight loss was creating more laxity. So, this is definitely something to consider before you move forward with skin tightening!
Everyone’s weight has some ebbs and flows – that’s just part of life. We talk about managing your weight to be an active partner so that you’re informed and equipped to participate in a great outcome.
Exercise To Be An Active Partner
We like it when clients have an exercise routine because exercise is a healthy habit that promotes body awareness. It’s as simple as that! For those who have a regular exercise routine, we like to see them maintain that routine during the body contouring process. For those who do not have an exercise routine, we recommend introducing some light exercise that fits with their lifestyle. This might be going for a 30-minute walk twice a week.
Wear Similar Clothing To Be An Active Partner
This one is not quite as important, but it’s worth mentioning. It’s great when you show up to your treatments wearing similar clothing (ex. leggings every time) because it means there will be consistency in our before & after photos. For example, when doing Emsculpt Neo on the abdomen, we’ll ask you to either undo the buttons of your pants or shimmy the top of your pants down so that the full abdomen is exposed for photos. Different clothing pushes and pulls on the body differently, and we want the photos to be as consistent as possible. It’s not a big deal, but wearing similar clothing is helpful!
The Next Step
All of these things – staying hydrated, managing your weight, exercising, and wearing similar clothing to your appointments – make up what it means to be an active partner. This is the best way for us to ensure that you will be happy with your outcome, and we want you to be happy! So, what do you think? Can you commit to being an active partner in this process?
